I’m deviating from my blog theme today so that I may throw a pity party for myself.
Just when you think it can’t get any lousier than living in the coldest place on Earth, you find out you’re even outdoing the solar system…
Sad thing is, that doesn’t even include the wind chill. In my opinion, anything colder than -25c is unbearable so the fact that some parts of Manitoba fell to -53c is really irrelevant at this point. Suffice it to say, it’s bloody freezing!!
As if having your lungs seize up and eyes freeze shut 2 minutes after being outside isn’t enough, we get a boatload of snow as the icing on the hell cake. It took me 40 minutes to get my car out of the driveway this morning resulting in my being late for work, walking like a hunchback and a dud left arm. I suppose I could look on the bright side and be thankful I still have one car since my primary car said F it, I’m shutting down for the winter. I would have taken a picture of my good times this morning but I didn’t want to risk having my camera freeze (seriously) so I’ll have to articulate it with this picture…
I’m not quite done whining yet. This is a picture of my front yard 6 hours AFTER my husband shoveled:
And here’s a picture out my bedroom window. My camera works fine, you can’t see anything because it’s covered in ice. Better than looking outside anyway and being reminded about what a loser I am for living here.
Okay I think I’ve vented enough. This rant brought to you by your friendly neighbourhood whiner all the way from:
Winterpeg, Manitscoldout
let you . my words bring at least a little heat – you need it – I want to wave the cold as soon … as possible – pass –
with love maxima

Wow! You make it sound so great not to live there! “lol”
Maybe we can get another ice storm here so you can be jealous of our tropical climate.
Better yet, I wish you were here so we could ride it out in our women’s cave.. blogging, farming and playing with all our photos!
Love you! BUNDLE UP, and take care. xoxoxo

As much as I agreed with you I must add… I rather be in cold winter weather than not feel safe walking down the street at home. I love winnipeg. Yes it’s freaking cold! Why oh why??? Lol but it’s safe 🙂

Oh I’m just on a tirade cuz my brain has turned to ice…lol. I LOVE Winnipeg…I own a beautiful home that I can actually afford, I have a yard (believe me, I’ve traveled enough to know what a luxury it is), my daughter is getting a grade A education, our garage sales seriously kick butt, our other 3 seasons make up for winter (although this winter is making that debatable), we have beautiful green space and amazing provincial parks. Not to mention our festivals and cultural events. And there’s always Sals, VJ’s and our beloved Jets.
GO JETS!!!!

I love winter, but the cold here in Winnipeg is ridiculous! I’m one of those people who questions what my ancestors were thinking settling here, lol. I’m downtown in a high rise, so that wind is pretty nasty, but the only plus side is the snow plowers are always out, even when there’s a light sprinkle of snow (which is overkill).
